According to this article on page A1 of the 12/23/08 NYT, "the graduate seminar [at Yeshiva University] of 15 began by debating whether Mr. Madoff’s actions were sins, and whether it mattered that he was Jewish."

Any eight year old can tell you that Mr. Madoff's actions were sins. (Eighth commandment: Thou shalt not steal.)
It's no wonder that many people feel colleges these days are over-priced.

I wonder in what way they thought it might matter that he was Jewish? As if that could make the underlying despicable conduct more or less of a sin! I will have to read that article.
